Last Wednesday, while browsing the net and looking for a simple dessert, I stumble upon this Blueberry Crumb Bar by Smitten Kitchen. It looks so good and knowing Smitten Kitchen it must be really good. So I plan to make this crumb bar on weekend.
According to Wikipedia "Stromboli is a type of turnover filled with various cheeses, typically mozzarella, Italian meats such as salami, capicola and bresaola or vegetables. " It is somewhat like a rolled pizza where you can put anything under the sun. My first encounter with stromboli was when we dine in Ristorante Bigoli in Trinoma.

It's Sunday and every Sunday we have a not-so-common dish in our home. Not-so-common meaning a dish that is served once a month. If its' my dad, he'll cook something of Ilonggo origin. If it's me, I usually cook my experiment recipe.

Its my grandfather's birthday celebration tomorrow, Sunday. Mamay, as we foncly called him, a Batangueno word meaning grandfather, is celebrating his 94th Birthday. He may be in his 90's and survived prostate enlargement in his late 80's but I tell you, Mamay is is still strong and kicking.

Its my brother's birthday yesterday and we failed to celebrate it as we all got home late and no one was able to cooked for the celebration. So we decided to celebrate it today as today is holiday because its Philippines Independence Day.

It's Saturday and Saturday is wash day. I woke up early today so I could finish the laundry early and to make good use of the sun. What I need before doing this choir is a good heavy breakfast. Doing the laundry is an energy consuming and sweat breaking activity to start the day.

College years were the most memorable year of my drinking spree era. We (my high school friends) would get together in our friends house and spent the whole night drinking until the sun was already up and we would here the familiar sound of the roosters indicating it's already morning. We drunk different kinds of alcohol from vodka, gin, tequila and of course beer.

Last Sunday was a really hot day. A little movement and you'll get all sweat. And yes, I did baked a couple of loaf of carrot cakes. What's really agonizing baking in this time of the year is the hot environment and the heat from the oven. But what determined me to bake these carrot cakes is simply my love for sweets. Every after meal, I just want to bite on something sweet and if a proper dessert is not available, well, a small pack of sandwich biscuit will do.

Ensaladang labanos or radish salad is a thinly sliced radish mixed with onion, garlic and tomatoes. It compliments well with fried foods specially fish. I can't get enough of this specially when this is paired with fried fish. I could plenty of rice when this is served. I remember a friend of mine who tasted it and said that it's like Pinoy version of the Korean kimchi.

It's Sunday morning and I woke up around 9 o'clock. We usually don't cook breakfast specially on weekends as we usually wake up on brunch time. My parents' usual breakfast is a hot pandesal or bread dipped in hot coffee or a simple bowl of oatmeal. I felt a little hungry and decided to make scrambled egg sandwich.
Brownies, a delicious treat that reminds me of my childhood. Before, I can only buy freshly baked brownies in a panaderia (a small bakeshop where different affordable breads can be bought) at a price of Php3.00 to Php5.00 a slice. That time, the only brownie type I know was the cakey type with roughly chopped peanut toppings.
