Pork Teriyaki with Sauteed Bean Sprout and Peanut Sauce

I made the Sauteed Bean Sprout with Crispy Tofu in Peanut Sauce as a vegetable dish to compliment this pork teriyaki I made today.  Eating pork teriyaki alone is boring, well, that's according to my taste bud so I made the bean sprout recipe.  So, how does the two worked together?  Great!  The savoriness of the pork teriyaki was balanced by mildly flavored sauteed bean sprout.  What amazed me was the pork teriyaki, when dip into the peanut sauce creates a one harmonious flavor of saltiness, spiciness and sweetness.  I just discovered the perfect dipping for this pork teriyaki dish.

You can lightly flavored the pork teriyaki with some sesame oil and sprinkle it with toasted sesame seed for more Asian bursting flavor.  However, I don't have sesame seed to go with this dish.  This pork teriyaki is so flavorful.  You can taste the saltiness from the soy sauce and hoisin sauce, mild sweetness from the oyster sauce and the spiciness of grated garlic and ginger.  Be sure to use a soft, lean type of pork for this dish and you will surely enjoy eating it.


This dish is so simple that you can prepare it the night before and cook in a little oil when you want to serve it.  It uses simple ingredients and yet it makes one delicious meal to enjoy with your family.

Ingredients
3/4 kilo                             Lean pork meat cut in to 10-inch strip
5 Tablespoons                   Light Soy Sauce
3 Tablespoons                   Oyster Sauce
3 Tablespoons                   Hoisin Sauce
5 cloves                           Garlic, grated
1 thumb sized                   Ginger, grated
Sesame Oil (optional)
Toasted Sesame Seed (optional)

Procedures

Marinate meat in soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic and ginger.  I suggest to add a tablespoon of sesame oil just before cooking the meat as to allow penetration of the marinade into the meat.  The oil acts as a barrier which may hinder the absorption of the marinade. Marinate for at least 4 hours or over night.

Heat a sauce pan and add about 3 to 4 tablespoon of olive oil.  When already hot, fry the meat until cooked.  Be careful not to over cooked the meat or else you'll be eating a tough meat.  Also, be careful with your pan temperature, just adjust the heat from time to time so not to burn the meat.  We don't want some char in our meat, do we?

Served with the Sauteed Bean Sprout in Peanut Sauce for one great meal.
